PETALING JAYA, October 18 – The government has announced that 100 new halal auditors will be hired for the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) as part of the RM421 billion allocated in the 2025 federal budget. This move is aimed at strengthening the country’s halal certification process, ensuring greater oversight and efficiency in monitoring halal standards across industries.

The 2025 budget, which represents a RM27.2 billion increase from the previous year, includes RM335 billion for operational expenditure, of which the additional manpower for JAKIM will be funded. The increase in resources for halal certification reflects the growing demand for halal products and services both domestically and internationally, positioning Malaysia as a global leader in the halal market.

The remaining RM86 billion of the budget is allocated for development expenditure, with a focus on infrastructure, economic growth, and social welfare programs.
