KUALA LUMPUR, October 18 — The Malaysian government has earmarked RM19.5 billion for the Home Ministry in its 2025 federal budget, which totals RM421 billion. This budget marks a notable RM27.2 billion increase compared to the RM393.8 billion allocated for 2024, making it the first time the budget has surpassed RM400 billion.
Of the total allocation, operational expenditure comprises RM335 billion, accounting for 79.6% of the budget, while RM86 billion is designated for development projects. The substantial funding for the Home Ministry reflects the government’s commitment to enhancing national security, public safety, and community welfare as part of its broader economic and social development strategies.
This increase in funding is expected to support various initiatives, including improved law enforcement, immigration control, and disaster management, as the government seeks to address pressing issues affecting the nation. The allocation reinforces the importance of the Home Ministry’s role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for all Malaysians.
