KUALA LUMPUR, October 19 – In response to the long-standing demand from Malaysians for improved public transportation services, Prasarana has initiated the procurement process for electric buses and passenger train coaches. During the Budget 2025 presentation, Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that the local public transport operator is taking significant steps to enhance its fleet.

This year, Prasarana has already acquired 250 electric buses to be deployed nationwide. Additionally, the company has commenced the procurement of 12 train coaches for KTM services, with plans to lease another 50 coaches next year through a collaboration between the Malaysian government and China. These developments aim to modernize and expand public transport options across the country.

Moreover, Prasarana is set to enhance accessibility in the Klang Valley by adding dedicated bus lanes along Jalan Ipoh, Jalan Cheras, and Jalan Gombak, covering a total of 47 kilometers. These improvements are part of a broader effort to upgrade the public transportation infrastructure and meet the growing needs of commuters.
