GEORGETOWN, October 22 – Pantai Hospital Penang has bolstered public safety by installing two additional Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) at the popular Gurney Bay promenade. This initiative is part of the hospital’s ongoing mission to improve survival rates in sudden cardiac arrest cases by making these life-saving devices easily accessible. With these new installations, a total of eight AED units are now available at key locations around Penang, including Penang Hill and SK Balik Pulau.
At the official launch, Pantai Hospital Penang’s CEO, Mr. Pan Wen Lek, highlighted the importance of AEDs in public spaces, stating, “These units play a critical role in ensuring that emergency help is available when needed most, enhancing safety for all.” Penang State EXCO for Youth, Sports, and Health, YB Daniel Gooi Zi Sen, also praised the initiative, underscoring its significance in building a safer community. The hospital plans to continue providing AED and CPR training sessions to equip the public with vital emergency response skills.
