KUALA LUMPUR, October 23 – Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC), Malaysia’s leading cinema chain, has announced the closure of its GSC Citta Mall outlet on 30 October 2024. The decision is part of GSC’s efforts to streamline operations and focus resources on higher-traffic locations. According to Chief Executive Officer Ms. Koh Mei Lee, GSC Citta Mall’s closure will allow the company to concentrate on more strategic sites with better footfall, such as GSC Paradigm Mall, which is located just 5km away.
“As the market leader, GSC is committed to evolving with changing consumer preferences. Our operational strategy focuses on delivering future-ready entertainment experiences at locations with greater viability,” Ms. Koh explained. GSC has recently upgraded its mobile app and introduced Gen 5 ticketing and concession kiosks, further digitizing the customer journey and improving service efficiency.
Despite the closure, GSC continues to expand its offerings, with recent openings of Aurum Theatre at The Exchange TRX, Velvet Cinemas by GSC at Sunway 163 Mall, and GSC KL East Mall. The company remains focused on delivering exceptional entertainment experiences across Malaysia’s most dynamic locations.
