KUALA LUMPUR, October 24 – Transport Minister Anthony Loke revealed that more than 4.3 million vehicles from Singapore crossed the Johor-Singapore border between January and September 2024, generating over RM87 million in road charges for Malaysia. On average, 16,107 vehicles entered Malaysia daily through the Johor entry points, contributing to the substantial revenue.
Loke noted that the road charge, set at RM20 for each foreign-registered vehicle, excluding motorcycles, is imposed every time a vehicle crosses the border. With an average of 89,818 trips made daily across both Sultan Ismail Building (BSI) and the Sultan Abu Bakar Complex (KSAB), the influx of Singaporean vehicles significantly boosts Malaysia’s border revenue.
