SEBERANG PERAI, November 3 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has assured the public of his non-intervention stance regarding investigations into Khazanah Nasional Berhad and Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB) following a reported loss of RM43.9 million from their investment in Fashion Valet. Despite his role as chairman of Khazanah, Anwar emphasized that the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) should have full autonomy in pursuing any investigations deemed necessary, affirming a commitment to transparency and accountability.

During his speech at the National Hawkers and Petty Traders Carnival 2024, Anwar noted that the case in question predates his tenure as Prime Minister. He reiterated the principle that no one is above the law, stating, “If there is a case, investigate; if there is evidence, prosecute; if proven, punish.” He reinforced that this approach is essential for fair governance and public trust.

Additionally, Anwar addressed ongoing investigations by MACC into alleged cartel activities related to the distribution and supply of padi fertiliser contracts valued at RM1.8 billion. He highlighted the importance of these investigations for food security, underlining the need to protect farmers and ensure fair pricing of essential agricultural inputs.
