KUALA LUMPUR, November 4 – GDS International, a premier developer and operator of high-performance data centres, along with the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), successfully hosted the Data Centre Supply Chain Ecosystem Summit in Johor. With over 400 attendees, the summit highlighted Malaysia’s potential as a digital powerhouse, featuring the latest technology trends and solidifying its role in the global digital economy.

Key moments included a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between GDS and SIRIM to enhance quality standards in the data centre sector, as well as partnerships with global suppliers expected to drive significant economic contributions. Deputy Minister YB Liew Chin Tong lauded the summit’s collaborative efforts, emphasizing job creation, supply chain localization, and sustainable practices as vital considerations for Malaysia’s data centre industry.

GDS Chairman William Huang affirmed the company’s commitment to Malaysia’s digital growth, stating, “The summit’s success reflects our shared vision for a sustainable digital future in Malaysia, positioning it as a regional hub for data centre services.” With RM131 billion in data centre and cloud investments approved between 2021 and June 2024, Malaysia is poised to become a leading digital hub in Southeast Asia.
