This landmark agreement between Penang and major Chongqing travel agencies aims to boost tourism exchanges, deepening ties as Malaysia and China commemorate 50 years of diplomatic relations.
The collaboration builds on the success of Penang’s recent tourism roadshow in Chongqing, which generated significant interest in Penang’s heritage, beaches, and cuisine. With direct charter flights between the cities, facilitated by Chongqing Wenhua Tourism Group and operated by Firefly Airlines, both regions are set to benefit from increased tourism. As Penang continues to expand its culinary, health, and wedding tourism sectors, this partnership positions it as a premier destination for Chinese visitors, underscoring China’s vital role in the state’s tourism growth.
