The first Geekbench 6 benchmark results for Apple’s new M4 Pro chip reveal a significant leap in performance, with the M4 Pro surpassing even the top-end M2 Ultra in peak multi-core CPU capabilities. The benchmark results show that a Mac mini equipped with the 14-core M4 Pro achieved an average multi-core score of 22,094, edging past the 21,351 score posted by the 24-core M2 Ultra in the Mac Studio.
This development positions the M4 Pro as the fastest Apple silicon chip on record in Geekbench 6, setting a new standard for high-performance computing in Apple’s lineup. Consumers can now access this power in the Mac mini, available for $1,599 in the U.S., offering a cost-effective alternative to the $3,999 Mac Studio with the M2 Ultra. However, this record-breaking status may soon be eclipsed by the forthcoming M4 Max, which is anticipated to push performance further.
Comparing year-over-year advancements, the M4 Pro’s multi-core CPU performance is a notable 45% faster than the M3 Pro, underscoring Apple’s commitment to rapid technological improvements. The 14-core M4 Pro Mac mini scored 22,094 in multi-core performance tests, whereas the 12-core M3 Pro used in the 14-inch MacBook Pro reached only 15,282 on average.
