KUALA LUMPUR, November 5 – BlackBerry Ltd, a global leader in intelligent security software, has officially launched its Asia Pacific cybersecurity headquarters in Cyberjaya, Malaysia. This expansion marks a significant milestone for BlackBerry’s commitment to the region, following a landmark cybersecurity partnership with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) announced in November 2023. The new headquarters includes a Cybersecurity Centre of Excellence, aimed at upskilling Malaysia’s workforce and strengthening cybersecurity expertise across the Asia Pacific.

Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil praised BlackBerry’s decision, noting that this move will not only enhance Malaysia’s digital infrastructure but also provide the region access to cutting-edge cybersecurity solutions. BlackBerry Cybersecurity’s Asia Pacific VP, Tash Stamatelos, emphasized Malaysia’s strategic importance as a regional hub and highlighted the nation’s ongoing investments in skills development, innovation, and digital transformation as it prepares to chair ASEAN in 2025.

The Malaysian BlackBerry team will provide a wide range of services, from sales and marketing to threat research, technical support, and skilled cybersecurity training, ensuring comprehensive support for cyber-defenders across Malaysia and the Asia Pacific region. This headquarters solidifies BlackBerry’s role in fortifying regional cybersecurity resilience while fostering Malaysia’s growing digital economy.
