KUALA LUMPUR, November 5 — The Ministry of Transport (MoT) has formed a special task force to probe the tragic death of an 18-year-old, suspected to have been electrocuted while charging his phone on an express bus in Penang. Transport Minister Anthony Loke announced that the task force will include representatives from the Road Transport Department (JPJ), the Land Public Transport Agency, and the Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (Miros).
The bus involved has had its operations suspended to facilitate the investigation. Loke emphasized the ministry’s commitment to passenger safety, adding that, if needed, special regulations for charging facilities on buses may be implemented. The task force has been given two weeks to submit a detailed report on the incident.
