KUALA LUMPUR, November 6 — The Kuala Lumpur-Karak (KLK) Highway is set for a major upgrade to ease traffic congestion, especially during peak holiday periods, starting with construction in January 2025. Deputy Works Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan announced that the project, managed by AFA Prime Berhad, includes widening the highway from the Gombak Toll Plaza to Bentong and building a new two-lane tunnel alongside the existing one.
Spanning 45.3 km, the RM2.1 billion expansion will add a lane to each section, with Section 1 increasing to four lanes and Section 2 to three lanes. The project is scheduled for completion by 2029, with additional studies underway to explore improved East-West connectivity and potential alternative routes to reduce congestion.
