ASUNCIÓN, PARAGUAY, November 7 — Apple Pay, Apple’s mobile payment platform, has officially launched in Paraguay, bringing seamless digital transactions to local users. Mastercard confirmed the launch, announcing that customers of Banco Continental, Itaú, and Ueno Bank can now add their cards to the Apple Wallet app to make secure and convenient payments with Apple Pay.

Federico Cofman, Mastercard Leader for Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay, expressed excitement about the collaboration, saying, “This launch reinforces Mastercard’s commitment to providing innovative solutions for people to choose how they want to pay.” Paraguay joins other South American countries, including Argentina, Brazil, Chile, and Colombia, in offering Apple Pay, further broadening access to digital payment solutions across the region.

With Apple Pay, users can pay in stores with an iPhone or Apple Watch by holding their device near a card reader, or make online purchases via iPad and Mac. This launch also coincides with Apple’s recent expansion of Tap to Pay, which allows iPhones to accept contactless payments as a sales terminal, now available in new European markets such as Austria and Ireland.
