GEORGE TOWN, November 7 — Pantai Hospital Penang, in partnership with the Lions Club of George Town Mutiara, successfully hosted the Charity Fun Ride & Walk 2024, raising RM10,000 to support essential medical needs for underprivileged communities. The event, which saw over 750 participants, featured a 40km ride and a 6km fun walk, both of which began at Sekolah Kebangsaan Balik Pulau. All registration fees were donated to the Lions Club of George Town Mutiara – Pantai Penang Medical Fund.
Mr. Pan Wen Lek, Chief Executive Officer of Pantai Hospital Penang, highlighted the significance of the initiative, stating, “This event exemplifies our commitment to improving the lives of the underprivileged. Since its establishment in 2010, the fund has supported over 280 patients in receiving life-changing treatments, including surgeries for cataracts, heart diseases, and joint replacements.” He expressed gratitude to participants and sponsors for their contributions, which will help ensure a healthier future for the community.
The event was not only a fundraising effort but also a celebration of community spirit and wellness. Participants enjoyed goody bags, lucky draws, and visits to sponsor booths. Looking ahead, Mr. Pan announced the upcoming Pantai Marathon 2025, scheduled for June 22, inviting the community to participate and continue supporting this worthy cause.
