GEORGE TOWN, November 12 – Penang police arrested a 48-year-old local man on Saturday morning for possession of firearms and live ammunition. The suspect was detained by the Northeast District Criminal Investigation Department team at approximately 9:00 a.m. along Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah, Penang.
Upon questioning, the suspect admitted to storing firearms in the boot of his car, parked in Paya Terubong, Ayer Itam. A search of the vehicle uncovered a pistol, a revolver, and eight bullets. The case is being investigated under Section 7 of the Firearms (Increased Penalties) Act 1971, and the suspect has been remanded for seven days, from November 11 to 17, to facilitate further investigation.
