GEORGE TOWN, November 14 – Dexcom Malaysia Sdn. Bhd., a global leader in continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) for diabetes management, has officially inaugurated its state-of-the-art facility at Batu Kawan Industrial Park (BKIP), Penang. Spread across 28 acres and housing Dexcom’s Trinity North and South Campus operations, the 887,510-square-foot facility was celebrated in a grand opening ceremony attended by notable dignitaries, including Penang Chief Minister YAB Tuan Chow Kon Yeow, officials from MITI, MIDA, and other key figures in Malaysia’s investment and medical technology sectors.
Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow praised the facility as a testament to Penang’s reputation as a hub for high-tech industries. “Dexcom’s commitment to health innovation through advanced CGM technology underscores Penang’s position as a preferred destination for manufacturing and technological advancement,” he remarked. Chow highlighted Penang’s trajectory towards becoming Southeast Asia’s MedTech Hub, supported by its infrastructure and vibrant ecosystem that caters to the needs of medical technology companies.
The launch of Dexcom’s new facility is a strategic boost for Malaysia’s medical devices sector, according to Datuk Sikh Shamsul Ibrahim Sikh Abdul Majid, CEO of MIDA, who noted that it aligns with the goals of Malaysia’s New Industrial Master Plan 2030 by driving economic complexity and fostering a skilled talent pool. Dexcom’s Chief Operating Officer Jake Leach and Managing Director Columba McGarvey echoed the significance of the investment, emphasizing the company’s dedication to innovation, local talent, and meeting the rising demand for Dexcom’s technology across the Asia-Pacific region.
