SINGAPORE, November 15 — The Malaysian Home Ministry has finalized the selection of a mobile application to streamline immigration processes for Malaysian travellers crossing into Singapore at the Sultan Iskandar Building and Sultan Abu Bakar Complex in Johor, according to Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail. Three applications — MyTrip, MyRENTAS, and MyBorderPass — have undergone trials, and one has been recommended to the Ministry of Finance for approval. This new app, set for release soon, aims to significantly reduce wait times and alleviate congestion at the Malaysia-Singapore border.
Initially, the app will be available for bus and motorcycle travellers, who make up nearly 80% of daily cross-border traffic, and will later expand to all types of travel across Malaysia’s 141 entry points. Saifuddin also noted that ongoing discussions with Singapore address streamlined immigration procedures for the upcoming Rapid Transit System (RTS) Link, which will connect Johor Bahru and Singapore, enhancing travel convenience for up to 10,000 passengers per hour.
