KUALA LUMPUR, November 18 – The Malaysian Youth Council (MBM) has issued a strong condemnation of Israel’s recent attack on the Malaysian Battalion (MALBATT) 850-12 peacekeepers in Sidon, South Lebanon, which left four Malaysian personnel injured. The MALBATT force had just replaced the previous contingent, continuing Malaysia’s role in UN peacekeeping operations. MBM has called on the Malaysian government and the UN to respond decisively to these escalating attacks on peacekeeping locations.
Expressing full support for Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s proposal to seek Israel’s expulsion from the UN, MBM highlighted the grave violations of international law and human rights represented by Israel’s actions in the Middle East. MBM also urged Malaysians to stand united in condemning Israel’s occupation and violence, and to support the safety of Malaysian forces engaged in peacekeeping missions.
