SHAH ALAM, November 19 – DAP Secretary-General Anthony Loke indicated a strong possibility for the continuation of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) alliance in Malaysia’s upcoming 16th general election, provided the coalition successfully steers the country through current economic challenges. Speaking at the Selangor DAP Convention 2024, Loke emphasized that economic growth, inflation control, and cost-of-living management are essential to gaining the confidence of Malaysians and maintaining the government’s mandate.

Loke acknowledged that disagreements within coalitions are natural, dismissing recent tensions between DAP Vice-Chairman Teresa Kok and Umno Youth Chief Dr. Muhamad Akmal Saleh as personal, noting they should not affect the overall alliance. He asserted, “For us, what matters is the country’s direction, not individual conflicts.”

Meanwhile, Selangor DAP Chairman Gobind Singh Deo urged party members to remain vigilant and prepared for future elections, emphasizing the need to take the opposition’s strategies seriously as the political landscape heats up.
