KUALA LUMPUR, November 21 — Scoot, Singapore Airlines’ low-cost subsidiary, has announced the launch of three new flight services to Phu Quoc in Vietnam, Padang in Indonesia, and Shantou in China. These flights, beginning between December 2024 and January 2025, will provide Malaysian travelers with more access to unique destinations across Asia. The flights to Phu Quoc and Padang, set for December 20 and January 6 respectively, will operate on the Embraer E190-E2 aircraft. Flights to Shantou will commence on January 16, utilizing the Airbus A320 family aircraft.
Phu Quoc, known for its lush landscapes and UNESCO-listed national park, is an ideal destination for adventure and relaxation seekers, with visa-free access for international travelers. Padang, famous for its Minangkabau culture and stunning beaches, offers travelers a blend of culture and natural beauty, while Shantou provides a cultural journey through China’s Chaoshan cuisine and historic sites. Scoot will offer up to five weekly flights to Phu Quoc, four weekly flights to Padang, and three weekly flights to Shantou, allowing travelers from Malaysia convenient access to these hidden gems.
In addition to the new routes, Scoot will be expanding services to other destinations. Flights to Jakarta, Koh Samui, Davao, and Vientiane will see increased frequencies, while operations to Nanchang will be suspended in early 2025. The new destinations are part of Scoot’s effort to inspire travel with affordable fares, with one-way tickets starting at RM299 to Phu Quoc, RM269 to Padang, and RM409 to Shantou.
