GEORGE TOWN, November 22 – The Ascott Limited has launched its newest addition in Malaysia, Citadines Connect Cecil Georgetown Penang, a property that combines the vibrant spirit of George Town with modern conveniences. Situated in a preserved pre-war building along Lebuh Cecil, the hotel reflects Penang’s rich heritage while catering to the needs of today’s travelers. This marks Ascott’s 13th operational property in Malaysia, with three more planned for 2025.
The 75-room property, including suites and apartments, is strategically located just 25 minutes from Penang International Airport. To commemorate the launch, a Nyonya-inspired opening ceremony was held, featuring modern dance performances and live batik painting, reflecting Penang’s artistic legacy. The event was graced by Penang Executive Council for Tourism and Creative Economy, YB Tuan Wong Hon Wai. “Citadines Connect Cecil Georgetown Penang embodies our commitment to blending heritage and hospitality excellence, offering visitors a true taste of Penang,” he noted.
As part of the Citadines brand signature, the hotel includes innovative programmes such as activ∞, encouraging guests to explore the city’s culture through curated experiences. Additionally, For the Love of Coffee connects guests through in-house coffee workshops and social interactions, with staff doubling as baristas to enhance the personalized service.
