KUALA LUMPUR, November 23 — NTT DATA’s latest research confirms that “playtime is over” for Generative AI (GenAI) as businesses transition from experimenting with the technology to deploying it for transformative results. Surveying over 2,300 leaders across 34 countries, the study found that 99% of organizations globally plan further GenAI investments, with CEOs anticipating a significant impact on productivity, sustainability, and compliance by 2025. In Malaysia, however, legacy infrastructure remains a key barrier, with 98% citing it as a challenge to effective GenAI use.

The report highlights top GenAI applications such as R&D, personalized service recommendations, and process automation. While enthusiasm for GenAI is high—75% of APAC respondents expressed excitement—obstacles like skill gaps, safety concerns, and regulatory ambiguity persist. Despite these challenges, NTT DATA CEO Yutaka Sasaki emphasized the need for strategic alignment, stating, “Getting GenAI right isn’t optional. It’s a transformative force that must be responsibly harnessed for lasting success.”
