KUALA LUMPUR, November 26 – Malaysia’s Human Resources Minister Steven Sim Chee Keong has unveiled a comprehensive plan to bridge the growing gap between the number of graduates and high-paying job opportunities in the country. As part of the initiative, the government will introduce Malaysia’s first-ever wage guide, setting clearer salary benchmarks across industries to help graduates make informed career choices and assist employers in offering competitive wages.
In addition to the wage guide, Sim announced an allocation of RM3 billion for reskilling and upskilling programmes in 2025 to help workers transition to industries impacted by technological changes. He also highlighted efforts to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with RM40 billion in grants and loans and RM120 billion in investments from government-linked corporations.
Sim emphasized that the focus is not just on job creation but on ensuring that available roles align with graduates’ skills and aspirations, addressing the critical mismatch between the workforce and job market demands.
