KUALA LUMPUR, November 28 – A recent survey by Jobstreet by SEEK reveals that 34% of Malaysians find securing the right job more challenging than finding a romantic partner. The study highlights growing difficulties in the modern job market, with 63% of Malaysians reporting trouble finding roles that align with their skills and preferences compared to when they first entered the workforce.
Younger workers, especially those aged 24 and below, are the most willing to change jobs, with 55% prepared to leave within a year if their roles no longer align with their career goals. While career alignment is a priority, compensation remains crucial, with 4 in 5 employees willing to accept a job with attractive benefits even if it doesn’t match their long-term aspirations. Employers face pressure to address key dissatisfaction factors—salary, work-life balance, career growth, and management practices.
Jobstreet by SEEK is stepping up to bridge this gap through AI-driven job matching, career advice services, and initiatives like the Malaysia Career & Training Fair, aiming to support both employers and jobseekers in navigating Malaysia’s evolving workforce landscape.
