GEORGE TOWN, November 30 – Water supply for 37,000 consumers, including international hotels in northern Penang Island, was fully restored at 10:45 AM yesterday, Friday, November 29, 2024, ahead of schedule. The Batu Ferringhi Water Treatment Plant (WTP) has resumed operations, delivering up to 120 million liters of treated water daily to key areas such as Batu Ferringhi, Tanjung Bungah, and Teluk Bahang.
The temporary shutdown, initiated at 10:00 PM on 28 November, allowed for the replacement of a faulty valve and preventive maintenance of high-voltage systems. Dato’ Ir. Pathmanathan K., CEO of PBAHB and PBAPP, thanked affected consumers for their patience and assured them that these upgrades will enhance water reliability in Penang’s prominent beachfront regions.
