KUALA LUMPUR, December 6 – The International Business Forum “World of Opportunities: Russia-ASEAN,” organized by the Roscongress Foundation, began in Malaysia with a focus on fostering economic integration and addressing global challenges. Discussions centered on advancing trade relations, particularly in digital technology, renewable energy, and AI development.

Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Russia, Alexey Gruzdev, highlighted collaborations in medicine and nuclear energy, while Abu Bakar Yusof of MATRADE emphasized the doubling of Malaysia-Russia trade this year, showcasing the potential for further diversification. Speakers like Airat Khairullin, Minister of Digital Development from Tatarstan, and Nazir Razak, ASEAN Business Advisory Council Chairman, underscored the importance of digital transformation and green finance initiatives.

With trade turnover between Russia and ASEAN growing by 20.5% in early 2024, the forum sets the stage for signing a Strategic Program of Trade and Investment Cooperation by 2025. Panel discussions, including the EAEU-ASEAN Business Dialogue, explored energy partnerships and long-term sustainable development, reinforcing the commitment to strengthen ties and unlock the region’s economic potential.
