JOHOR BAHRU, December 10 – Tourism Malaysia celebrated the inaugural Batik Air flight connecting Don Mueang International Airport (DMK) in Bangkok to Senai International Airport in Johor Bahru. This new route, operating seven flights weekly, marks a significant milestone in enhancing connectivity between Thailand and Malaysia, promoting tourism and economic collaboration.

To commemorate the occasion, Tourism Malaysia and Batik Air are hosting a 3-day, 2-night familiarisation trip for Thai tour agents to showcase Johor Bahru’s vibrant culture and attractions, fostering stronger regional tourism ties. Director-General of Tourism Malaysia, YBhg. Datuk Manoharan Periasamy, expressed excitement over the collaboration, highlighting the route’s role in advancing ASEAN cooperation and regional tourism.

As Malaysia prepares for the ASEAN Chairmanship in 2025, initiatives like these aim to boost tourist arrivals, diversify Malaysia’s tourism landscape, and establish Johor Bahru as a gateway to Malaysia’s unique experiences. The effort aligns with the goals of Visit Malaysia 2026, targeting 35.6 million tourists and RM147.1 billion in receipts.
