GEORGE TOWN, December 18 — Penang Hill Corporation (PHC), in collaboration with Rapid Penang and the Penang State Government, proudly announces the return of the Penang Hill Free Shuttle Service from December 25 to 29, 2024. Running from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., the service will operate eight round trips daily at 1.5-hour intervals, offering a convenient and eco-friendly transportation option for visitors traveling between KOMTAR’s Station 9 and Penang Hill Lower Station. The shuttle buses are also wheelchair accessible, ensuring inclusivity for all passengers.
This initiative aims to ease traffic congestion around Penang Hill while promoting the state’s Penang2030 Vision to create a greener and smarter community. Following its success during previous festive periods, PHC recorded over 1,600 passengers during the 2023 year-end holidays and a 53% increase in usage during Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2024 compared to the previous year. PHC encourages visitors to embrace the free shuttle service as a sustainable solution that enhances travel convenience while reducing carbon emissions.
Visitors can identify the free shuttle by its clearly marked “Penang Hill Free Shuttle” signage and distinctive visuals at pick-up points. In case of full capacity, visitors are advised to use Rapid Penang’s Route 204 bus service as an alternative.
