KUALA LUMPUR, December 18 – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced that the Freedom of Information (FOI) Bill will be tabled in Parliament next year to promote greater transparency in public service. In a Facebook post, Anwar revealed that the policy for drafting the Bill was discussed during a Special Cabinet Committee on National Governance (JKKTN) meeting on December 16.

The Bill aims to guarantee and protect individuals’ rights to access government-held information by law, marking a significant step towards improving governance and accountability. Additionally, Anwar highlighted the formation of a Special Task Force for the Corruption Perception Index (CPI), which will be led by the Chief Secretary to the Government.

This initiative is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to enhance Malaysia’s reputation for good governance and integrity, particularly in the eyes of foreign investors. The Prime Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening national governance, fighting corruption, and advancing the principles of Malaysia Madani.
