BATU KAWAN, December 19 – Klippa Shopping Centre is set to transform Batu Kawan into a premier destination for sports and community engagement with the unveiling of Soccer Experience @ Klippa Batu Kawan, Powered by IKEA. Scheduled to open in June 2025, this 200,000-square-foot state-of-the-art facility will be the largest in Soccer Experience’s portfolio, featuring two football fields, including a roof-covered field, a clubhouse with refreshments by IKEA, and ample parking for visitors.

Operated by founder Martin Tierney, the facility aims to nurture football talent while fostering inclusivity and active lifestyles. Aligned with Klippa’s sustainability vision, the facility will incorporate green infrastructure, such as solar energy solutions and rainwater harvesting systems, while repurposing materials from an existing building. “This isn’t just a sports venue; it’s a dynamic space for community connections and talent development,” said Tierney.

Klippa’s Director of Market Strategy, Arnoud Bakker, emphasized the centre’s commitment to being the heart of Batu Kawan, offering diverse experiences and promoting healthy, sustainable living for the growing smart city community. Soccer Experience F.C.’s rich legacy in player development will be furthered through youth and women’s leagues, coaching programs, and tournaments hosted at the facility.

With recent milestones like the Penang Bridge International Marathon and the opening of Decathlon, Klippa continues to solidify its position as a hub for recreation and community-driven initiatives, paving the way for a vibrant future in Batu Kawan.
