KUALA LUMPUR, December 21 – Malaysia achieved a milestone with RM254.7 billion in approved investments across various economic sectors from January to September 2024, reflecting a 10.7% increase compared to RM230.2 billion during the same period in 2023. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that the investments, spanning 4,753 projects, are projected to create 159,347 new job opportunities.
During the National Investment Council (MPN) Meeting, Anwar highlighted the approval of new Guidelines for the Development of Sustainable Data Centres. These guidelines include metrics for Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) and Water Usage Effectiveness (WUE), which will serve as eligibility criteria for tax incentives under the Digital Ecosystem Acceleration Scheme (DESAC).
“The MADANI Government remains committed to enhancing policies to strengthen Malaysia’s competitiveness,” he stated, reinforcing the nation’s appeal as a global investment hub.
