GEORGE TOWN, December 21 – Penang Hill Corporation (PHC) has launched the Penang Hill Hiking Trails Mobile App, an innovative tool aimed at enhancing the hiking experience while promoting sustainable tourism. The app provides real-time navigation, live location tracking, and weather updates for 10 popular trails, including routes from Air Itam, the Penang Botanic Gardens, and Teluk Bahang. With safety in mind, it also highlights the locations of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) for emergencies.
At the launch, PHC General Manager Dato’ Cheok Lay Leng expressed hope that the app would make hikes safer and more enjoyable for visitors while protecting Penang Hill’s lush environment. State EXCO for Tourism YB Wong Hon Wai, who officiated the event, lauded the initiative as a step forward in embracing technology for sustainable tourism. He urged visitors to download the app and experience Penang Hill’s beauty responsibly. The app is available on the Google Play Store, iOS App Store, and soon, Huawei AppGallery.
