KUANTAN, December 24 – Sri Pahang FC advanced to the semi-finals of the Unifi Piala Malaysia 2024-2025 after edging Perak FC with a 4-3 aggregate victory. Despite this achievement, head coach Fandi Ahmad expressed dissatisfaction with his team’s lack of discipline on the pitch, which led to a 3-3 draw in the second-leg quarterfinal yesterday. He emphasized that missed scoring opportunities and lapses in concentration nearly cost the team their progress.

“We should have scored more goals, but poor discipline resulted in this draw,” Fandi remarked. As Sri Pahang prepares for the semi-finals, Fandi urged his players to adopt a more focused mindset. “I hope they quickly wake up and approach the next match with discipline. Simple mistakes in front of goal must be avoided,” he stressed. With their opponent yet to be confirmed—either Sabah FC or Kuching City FC—the team remains determined to reach their first Piala Malaysia final since their triumph in 2014.

Sri Pahang’s last final appearance saw them crowned champions after defeating Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) in a dramatic penalty shootout. As they gear up for the semi-finals, Fandi affirmed their ambition: “We aim to end the drought and make it back to the final. This team deserves a shot at glory.” The road ahead promises intense challenges as the Tok Gajah seek to revive their legacy in Malaysian football.
