GEORGETOWN, December 25 – Penang FC advanced to the semi-finals of the Challenge Cup after defeating PT Athletic FC with a commanding 6-0 aggregate. The Harimau Kumbang cruised through the second leg of the quarterfinals with a 2-0 victory at Stadium Bandaraya, securing a January clash against Selangor FC.
Captain Rafael Vitor led the charge, netting two penalties in the first half. The first came in the 38th minute after a foul on Dylan Wenzel-Halls, while the second was awarded in stoppage time following another incident involving Wenzel-Halls. Despite a strong defensive effort from PT Athletic’s goalkeeper Syakir Danial Ma’amal Hajri, Penang’s dominance was clear.
PT Athletic, participating in their maiden Challenge Cup campaign, struggled to make an impact against Penang’s solid defense. The victory marks Penang FC’s continued momentum as they aim to reach the final of the tournament.
