KUALA LUMPUR, December 27 – Transport Minister Loke Siew Fook has extended heartfelt condolences on behalf of the Ministry of Transport to the families of seven individuals who tragically lost their lives in a road accident near the Ayer Keroh toll plaza on the North-South Expressway yesterday.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the accident was caused by a trailer’s detached tire, forcing a tour bus to swerve, lose control, and collide with three vehicles from the opposite lane. The minister has directed the Road Transport Department (JPJ) Enforcement Division to conduct a thorough investigation and take appropriate action against the trailer and bus companies involved.

In his statement, Loke emphasized the ministry’s commitment to strict enforcement of safety compliance for heavy commercial vehicles to ensure road user safety, reaffirming the importance of ongoing efforts to prevent such tragedies.
