GEORGE TOWN, December 28 — Police have successfully resolved a high-profile assault case involving a 37-year-old lawyer, who was attacked with iron rods by two unidentified men on October 22, 2024, along Persiaran Karpal Singh. Following investigations, 22 individuals were detained, with three suspects aged 36 to 41 charged in the Magistrates’ Court under Section 324/109 of the Penal Code on December 24.
The alleged mastermind, a 46-year-old local male, was arrested at Penang International Airport on December 26. He was subsequently charged in court the following day under the same section. The Northeast District Police Department expressed gratitude to all parties who assisted in the investigation, stating that the case had been successfully concluded.
