KUALA LUMPUR, January 2 – Malaysia has reached a significant milestone, welcoming over 1 million Indian tourists between January and November 2024, marking a 47% increase compared to 2019 and an impressive 71.7% surge from 2023. This achievement reflects Malaysia’s growing appeal as a top destination for Indian travelers, supported by the introduction of free visa entry in December 2023 and increased flight connectivity.
Airlines such as Indigo have expanded their routes, now offering direct flights to Penang and Langkawi alongside Kuala Lumpur, bolstering Malaysia’s position as a preferred travel destination ahead of Visit Malaysia Year 2026. Tourism Malaysia’s strategic collaborations with Indian tour operators and OTAs, along with targeted marketing campaigns, have highlighted Malaysia’s rich culture, natural attractions, and world-class hospitality.
Recognized as the Best MICE Destination 2024 in the Indian market, Malaysia has become a favored venue for corporate events, seamlessly blending business and leisure tourism. As Malaysia prepares for 2025 and beyond, the country remains committed to enhancing visitor experiences, strengthening its ties with India, and building on this year’s successes to ensure an unforgettable journey for all Indian travelers.
