GEORGE TOWN, January 2 — Penang Deputy Chief Minister II Jagdeep Singh Deo has vacated his position on the PBA Holdings board due to failing to meet Bursa Malaysia’s minimum attendance requirements for directors. Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow confirmed that the Datuk Keramat assemblyman had not attended at least 50% of the board meetings held during the financial year.

Chow, who also chairs PBA Holdings Berhad, explained that the company secretary had to notify Bursa Malaysia about the attendance shortfall, as required by the Main Market Listing Requirements. Despite Jagdeep’s exit, Chow noted there was no immediate need to appoint a replacement as the board currently has sufficient members to operate effectively.

Jagdeep had been a non-independent and non-executive director on the board since September 2023.
