KUALA LUMPUR, January 4 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has set three key priorities for 2025: ensuring better wages, addressing hardcore poverty, and tackling persistent flood issues. Speaking at the Prime Minister’s Department, Anwar emphasized the need for large profit-making companies, including GLICs and GLCs, to provide fairer compensation to employees, highlighting that the progressive wage policy will not burden low-income companies.

In addition, Anwar vowed to accelerate flood mitigation projects, stating that delays are unacceptable when lives and property are at stake. He assured that budgetary adjustments, including expenditure cuts or borrowing, would be made to prioritize these critical issues. “If we have to cut allocations, we will. All pressing programs must be expedited,” he said, underscoring the government’s commitment to resolving long-standing challenges.
