KUALA LUMPUR, January 5 — Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s legal team has opted to focus on pursuing his case regarding the alleged royal addendum, rather than filing a fresh pardon application at this stage. Lead counsel Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah emphasized that submitting a new pardon request could risk complicating the ongoing appeal process, Malaysiakini reported.
Najib, who is serving a 12-year sentence for corruption, is challenging the validity of an alleged royal decree permitting house arrest. The Court of Appeal is set to rule on this matter tomorrow. Shafee stated that the legal team plans to exhaust all available judicial avenues before considering further actions, including appealing to the Federal Court if necessary.
