BUKIT MERTAJAM, January 14 – Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim officially launched the new South Wing Block at KPJ Penang Specialist Hospital, marking a pivotal step in KPJ Healthcare Berhad’s efforts to enhance healthcare access in northern Malaysia. The expansion increases the hospital’s capacity from 193 to 319 beds, allowing for improved patient care and operational efficiency.
The new wing is equipped with advanced medical technologies, including the state-exclusive Cryo-7 Cryotherapy Technology to reduce pain and inflammation and Hand Robotic Rehabilitation Services for precision-focused therapy. These cutting-edge features position KPJ Penang as a leader in Malaysia’s private healthcare and a premier destination for medical tourism.
In tandem with the launch, KPJ Penang introduced the ‘Program Sekolah Angkat’ initiative, adopting SMK Pendidikan Khas Bumbong Lima to support students with special needs. As part of this programme, the hospital will provide hearing aids, free assessments, and maintenance services while expanding sign language training for staff and developing healthcare-related sign language terms to improve communication with the disabled community.
