PUTRAJAYA, January 16 – Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook has announced an indefinite delay in the completion of the Automated People Mover System (Aerotrain) at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA). Despite previous projections of a January 31 operational date, ongoing testing phases have left the timeline uncertain.

Currently in the dynamic testing stage, the Aerotrain must undergo additional system testing and integration before final approval. Loke expressed frustration over the delays, highlighting the responsibility of Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) in accelerating progress. The project, awarded in March 2022 with a three-year timeline, faced setbacks and was reawarded to a consortium in January 2024 to restore momentum.

“While contractors work to resolve the issues, a definite start date remains unavailable,” Loke said.
