KUALA LUMPUR, January 19 — The Community Communications Department (JKOM) has announced a stronger and more proactive strategy to combat fake news, which it says undermines the MADANI Government’s efforts to promote national well-being. JKOM director-general Datuk Ismail Yusop emphasized the importance of accurate communication in maintaining public confidence in the government’s initiatives.
“Fake news must not become a norm in our society. It disrupts harmony and undermines the government’s ability to drive the nation toward shared prosperity,” Ismail said in a Facebook post. Highlighting Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s efforts in governance, the economy, and social justice, Ismail called for public collaboration with the government to ensure the success of beneficial initiatives.
He stressed that JKOM will work closely with other agencies to effectively communicate the government’s agenda and its tangible benefits to the people.
