GEORGE TOWN, January 21 — Deputy Finance Minister and Member of Parliament for Tanjong, YB Lim Hui Ying, hosted the Tanjong Media Night at Fort Cornwallis to honour the vital role of the media in shaping society and bridging the government with its people. The event gathered local media representatives and key community leaders, including ADUN Komtar YB Teh Lai Heng and ADUN Pengkalan Kota YB Wong Yuee Harng.
YB Lim acknowledged the media’s critical role in ensuring accurate information reaches the public, especially on policies like the Penang LRT project. “Your efforts in conveying clear and truthful information are essential to helping the people understand and navigate the challenges of such initiatives,” she said, urging media support in managing public expectations during the project’s implementation.
She also highlighted the challenges posed by misinformation and scams, calling for stronger collaboration between the government and media to combat these issues. “Together, we can protect our communities and uphold the integrity of genuine journalism while fostering a more informed and resilient society,” she concluded.
