GEORGE TOWN, January 22 — The Penang Hill Corporation (PHC), in collaboration with Rapid Bus Sdn. Bhd. and the Penang State Government, has announced the return of the Penang Hill Free Shuttle Service for the sixth time. The initiative will run from January 29 to February 2, 2025, aligning with the Chinese New Year celebrations.
Operating from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm, the service aims to reduce traffic congestion around Penang Hill while promoting green initiatives and sustainability as part of the state’s Penang2030 Vision. The wheelchair-accessible shuttle will make eight daily round trips between KOMTAR’s Station 9 bus stop on Jalan Ria and the Penang Hill Lower Station. With clear headsigns and marked pick-up and drop-off points, the service ensures convenience for all passengers.
Visitors can check the shuttle schedule on PHC’s website and social media platforms. PHC also encourages passengers to use Rapid Penang’s Route 204 as an alternative if shuttle capacity is full. Having served over 1,100 passengers during the 2024 year-end school holidays, the free shuttle service continues to gain popularity among locals and visitors.
PHC hopes the service will enhance visitor experiences and ease travel stress, further solidifying Penang Hill’s reputation as a must-visit destination while supporting a sustainable and eco-friendly Penang.
