KUALA LUMPUR, January 23 — Malaysia is positioning itself as a top investment destination in Southeast Asia, driven by strong GDP growth, rising foreign direct investment (FDI), and transformative policy reforms. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that Malaysia’s GDP growth is expected to surpass 5.0% in 2024 and continue robustly at 4.5% to 5.5% in 2025.

Coupled with the country’s leadership in ASEAN initial public offerings (IPOs) and a revitalized capital market, global interest in Malaysia is surging. Addressing investors in London, Anwar highlighted key reforms underpinned by the New Industrial Master Plan 2030, National Energy Transition Roadmap, and National Semiconductor Strategy.

These policies strengthen Malaysia’s role in global semiconductor production and support the growing demand for artificial intelligence (AI) and computing power across Asia. Anwar emphasized that fiscal responsibility, anti-corruption efforts, and strategic investments aim to ensure long-term economic resilience while advancing net-zero goals and technological adoption, offering significant opportunities for investors worldwide.
