KUALA LUMPUR, January 24 – DAP Socialist Youth (DAPSY) has reiterated its commitment to national harmony and condemned provocative actions and dirty politics by individuals such as Muhamad Akmal Saleh from UMNO. DAPSY emphasized that issues like halal fraud must be addressed professionally and respectfully, ensuring the principles of halal are upheld for the Muslim community without exploitation for political gain.
In a statement, DAPSY Deputy Chief Liinesh Selluandan applauded the swift action of a university in closing a shop under scrutiny while investigations are underway. However, he criticized Akmal for leveraging the incident to foster societal divisions through social media rather than promoting rational discourse. Liinesh called on all politicians to prioritize unity, respect the rule of law, and refrain from actions that could jeopardize Malaysia’s multi-ethnic and multi-religious harmony.
