INDIA, January 24 – The Penang Convention & Exhibition Bureau (PCEB) has kicked off the 8th Edition of its annual Penang Roadshow to India, spanning four major cities: Mumbai, New Delhi, Kolkata, and Chennai from January 13–20. Under the theme “Discover Penang,” the initiative highlights Penang’s offerings in tourism and business events, welcoming around 200 buyers and 30 media representatives in each city.
This year’s highlight is the newly established IndiGo Airlines’ direct connectivity between Penang and Chennai, enhancing accessibility and opportunities for travelers. With a visa exemption for Indian nationals extended until 2026 and Indian visitor numbers to Malaysia surpassing one million in 2024, the roadshow seeks to further boost Penang’s appeal. “This new connection fosters stronger ties and opens doors for increased collaboration,” said PCEB CEO Ashwin Gunasekeran.
Featuring a robust lineup of exhibitors and strategic initiatives, the roadshow reinforces Penang’s standing as a premier destination for tourism and business in the region.
