IPOH, February 3 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has called on Malaysians to prioritize national unity and economic progress rather than being distracted by divisive issues. Speaking at the Perak Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s (PCCCI) Chinese New Year celebration, Anwar highlighted Malaysia’s strength as a multi-racial and multi-religious nation, emphasizing that economic growth and inclusivity should be the primary focus.

He urged leaders and citizens to reject unnecessary conflicts and instead work towards a prosperous and united Malaysia. Anwar, the first Prime Minister to attend the PCCCI’s celebration in its 118-year history, also reaffirmed Malaysia’s commitment to fostering global trade partnerships, dismissing claims that the country is overly reliant on China. He underscored that Malaysia welcomes investment from all nations based on mutual benefit, stressing the need to embrace innovation and economic opportunities.

Citing his strong diplomatic ties with China’s leadership, he reiterated that Malaysia’s global standing is strengthened by its unity and economic resilience, which must be safeguarded for the nation’s continued progress.
